To help builders, contractors and specifiers ensure that all commercial and public buildings satisfy the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and Building Regulations Pt. M : 2004, Kee Klamp Ltd has introduced a new series of galvanised cast iron fittings. Under the terms of the DDA, all commercial and public building owners are obliged to provide non-discriminatory access.

The Building Regulations recommend an outside diameter tube size for such installations of between 40mm-45mm. The new 500 Series of Kee Klamp® fittings is specifically designed to give a smooth handrail with size 7 tube (outside diameter 42.4mm) and is therefore compatible with the recommendations when attached to a size 8 (48.3 o/d) upright.

When and where required, the 500 Series can be easily augmented with fittings from the established Kee Klamp® fittings series to create a complete, cost-effective answer to DDA and Building Regulation requirements. The new fittings can be powder coated in a choice of RAL colours to meet the visibility and “not cold to the touch” requirements of the Regulations.

Quality

Our stringent quality control process begins with the design of the 500 Series. The same strict guidelines are then implanted in the manufacturing process, where the consistency and quality of all materials used are closely monitored. The 500 Series are iron castings, galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461. For added protection from rust, the grubscrews are Kee Koat® protected, offering up to four times greater protection than Bright Zinc Plated grubscrews. The thread recesses have a ThredKoat(TM) coating. Together these coatings offer unrivalled protection from rust, within the Fittings market.
